As Chairperson of the SIOR Technology Committee I wanted to provide you with an update as to what the committee has been up to recently:

MIT Partnership
The Technology Committee was instrumental in initiating, and fostering the relationship with the MIT Center for real estate, and Steve Weikal head of industry relations and guest lecturer. The MIT relationship has been of great benefit to the Society in a numerous of ways. We have put on several fantastic, well-attended breakout sessions at our recent conferences, in conjunction with Steve Weikal. Notably at the NYC 75 anniversary conference we developed a session on mobility and autonomous vehicles presented by Steve, and Ryan C.C. Chin, Ph.D. CEO of Optimus Ride Inc., and former professor at the MIT Media Lab. At the San Diego Spring Conference, we were able to present the break out session on the sharing economy. Another outstanding and well attended session. We are continuing to develop our relationship with MIT, and look forward to another great session for New Orleans, and future conferences.

IoT Sensor Program
The committee has initiated a project to study sensor technology in conjunction with some of our developer sponsors. This would include placing sensors at buildings owned, or developed by our sponsors and measuring various areas relating to the facilities. This could include anything from monitoring HVAC systems, water usage and electrical systems to vehicle and pedestrian traffic patterns. Although this is only in the initial stages at this time we are looking forward to ultimately developing a white paper on this initiative.

International Measurement Standard and WiredScore
The Technology Committee is considering endorsing an international building measurement standard for industrial buildings. A draft standard has recently been published by the International Property Measurement Standards Coalition. We are reviewing this, and seeking input and guidance from our developer associate members. We are also considering endorsing Wiredscore ratings. Wiredscore is a tech company that studies and rates a building's connectivity.

Unified App
The committee has integrated some of our web applications and standalone applications into one unified app that would include MySIOR, our conference app as well as other applications. We are now working on developing an outward facing segment that would provide various tools for the benefit of our members as well as the outside community. This would garner traffic to our site, and app as well as provide great resources.

Blogging
We had 100 percent participation from our committee for our blogging calendar whereby members of the committee are responsible for providing a blog each month.
We are also pursuing other endeavors which I will report on shortly. Many thanks to the members of the committee for their participation and contributions.
