Bio

Tom is the founder and owner of Burton Real Estate Advisors, Inc., a commercial real estate consulting firm specializing in tenant and buyer representation. Prior to founding the company in 1990, Tom worked for Trizec Properties, Opus Corporation, and Keewaydin Development.
Tom’s firm represents the office, industrial, and retail arenas, with a primary focus on office. The company’s geographical specialty is the Twin Cities Metropolitan Area. Tom was President of the Society of Industrial and Office Realtors Minnesota Chapter in 2017. Tom is the past President of Minnesota Commercial Association of Realtors. In 2014 Tom was awarded the Robert P. Boblett in recognition and appreciation of his dedication, distinguished service, and long time standing commitment to the ideals and standards of the Society of Industrial and Office Realtors, and for his unselfish efforts to inspire others to reach their greatest potential in the real estate profession.
An avid sailor, Tom has served as the Commodore of the Minnetonka Yacht Club and E fleet representative and director of the Inland Lake Yachting Association. Tom also served as Commodore (president) of the National Class E Scow Association, an organization for which he served as an officer for 8 years. Tom is a trustee of the Lindley Trust. Tom is active member of Rotary Club of Minneapolis and is currently active on the World Community Service Committee. Tom also serves on Rotary Club of Minneapolis Foundation. He has served on the Rotary Board of Directors. Prior to earning his MBA from the University of St. Thomas in 1986, Tom received his BA in Economics and Comparative Cultures at the University of California, Irvine in 1979.

Tom lives in Deephaven on Lake Minnetonka with his wife, Georgia. They have two adult children.
