Mark has spent the past 30 years building and running technology and real estate companies.
Currently Mark is a Product Director at CoStar, where he helps shape CoStar’s products and takes an active role in CoStar’s innovation.
Prior to CoStar, Mark ran The Ezra Company, one of the largest and oldest independent commercial real estate tenant representation companies in the nation. During his tenure, Mark has led the company to significant growth. While running Ezra, Mark saw the need in the market for an organization that supports regional brokerage firms in servicing clients worldwide and, thus, founded Exis, one of the largest and most influential global tenant representation organizations in the world. Mark is, currently, a board member and was the past Chairman of Exis. In June 2019, Mr. Ezra sold The Ezra Company to an international commercial real estate firm.
Mark began his career as a leading national corporate real estate specialist with The Ezra Company. During this time, Mark was the director of National Accounts and represented some of the largest and fastest growing companies’ portfolio accounts.
While working with technology clients at The Ezra Company, Mark saw a gap in the market between tenant demand for technology buildings and the shortage of supply, a result of, in part, a lack of landlord expertise. Mark left the brokerage business to solve this need and co-founded Core Location—an innovator in building mega carrier-neutral telecommunications and Internet data center facilities. Core Location developed over 3.5 million square feet and quickly became known as the preeminent landlord due to its success and its top team of technologists and real estate professionals.
Mark then went on to become the founder and CEO of Honesty Online, a software company that built technology focused on providing online identity verification for online communities. Online communities, such as dating and employment sites, integrated Honesty Online’s credentialing platform to allow their members to share secure, verified identities with other members.
Mark is a graduate and board member of MindShare, an invitation-only organization for CEOs of technology companies in the Washington, DC Region. He is on the Leadership Board of CREtech.com and is active in the CRETech/PropTech industry. Mark is a licensed broker in Washington, DC, Virginia and Maryland and holds the SIOR designation for decades.
