Steve Kapp, SIOR, is Executive Managing Director for Newmark Knight Frank’s San Francisco East Bay Industrial division. Since 2003, Steve has held a dual office and industrial certification with the Society of Office and Industrial Realtors (SIOR) because of his extensive work with both office and industrial clientele. He has regularly been recognized as a Costar "Broker of the Year" as well as a top producer at Newmark Knight Frank. He serves on the firm’s Industrial Leadership Council and Life Sciences Team, working collaboratively on a regional basis to provide corporate services to life science, high technology, and other technoloiy focused industrial firms.
Steve has served as the president of both the Northern California Chapter of SIOR as well as the chair of the SIOR Technology Committee at the national level. and during his 25 years of commercial real estate expertise, has successfully advised his clients on more than 1,000 transactions valued at more than $3 billion.
Prior to his current position, Steve joined Cornish & Carey Commercial Newmark Knight Frank in 2007 as one of the founding Partners of the firm’s Hayward office. Prior to 2007, , he worked for over 12 years as a broker and Partner with NAI BT Commercial. From 1988-1994, Steve worked as an industrial developer with Catellus Development Corporation and Santa Fe Pacific Realty Corporation in San Francisco, where he developed over 500,000 SF of industrial projects.
His deep experience in the leasing, sales and development of R&D, industrial and office properties in the San Francisco Bay Area has allowed Steve to successfully advise his clients on over 1,000 lease and sale transactions.
Steve has represented major institutional investors such as Principal Financial Group, Stockbridge, Terreno , Biomed Realty Trust, Invesco, Prologis, and Legacy Partners. On the tenant representation side,Steve has negotiated transactions on behalf of Dow Corning, Johnson Controls, Abbott Laboratories, Agilent, Abaxis, Southen Wine & Spriits, Cell Genesys, DeVry, Convergys, Sysco Foods, Hitachi, Tech Data Corporation and many others.
