OVERVIEWSIOR Global is seeking an experienced volunteer leader to step up as the incoming Chapter Leadership Council (CLC) Speaker-Elect in October 2023 for a 2-year term. The Speaker-Elect will then automatically transition to the Speaker position in October 2025 for a 2-year term, followed by a 2-year term on the Nominating Committee beginning October 2027.
ELIGIBILITY
- Current / former chapter presidents who have served in that capacity between April 2019 and April 2023
- Cannot hold another office in the Chapter Leadership Council concurrently (e.g. Chapter President or Regional Director)
- Must be able to make his/her presentation in person at the CLC meeting on Wednesday, October 10th in Dallas, TX, at the 2022 CREate 360 Fall Conference
- Must be available for an in-person interview with the Nominating Committee at the 2023 TransACT 360 Spring Conference in Montreal, Canada
EXPECTATIONS OF THE CLC SPEAKER-ELECTThe Speaker-Elect is the second officer and a non-voting member of the CLC.
- Serve a two-year term beginning October 2023
- Succeed CLC Speaker in October 2025 for a 2-year term (see CLC Speaker expectations below)
- Promote SIOR’s strategic and operational goals, particularly as related to chapters
- Support Speaker and HQ Team in program development and speaker recruitment for all CLC meetings and the Leadership Conference
- Participate in all CLC conference calls
- Attend the CLC meetings at the annual TransACT 360 Spring & CREate 360 Fall Conferences and the Leadership Conference at his/her own expense
- Serve as CLC Speaker in Speaker’s absence
- Serve as a non-voting member on the SIOR Membership Standards & Admissions Committee
- Fulfill other duties as assigned by the Council
EXPECTATIONS OF THE CLC SPEAKER
The Speaker is the presiding officer and a non-voting member of the CLC.
- Serve a two-year term beginning October 2025
- Serve as a voting member on the SIOR Board of Directors
- Fulfill all the responsibilities and obligations as an SIOR Board member
- Promote SIOR’s strategic and operational goals, particularly as related to chapters
- Support HQ team in program development and speaker recruitment for all CLC meetings and the Leadership Conference
- Participate in all CLC conference calls and attend the CLC meetings at the annual TransACT 360 Spring & CREate 360 Fall Conferences and the Leadership Conference.
- Serve a two-year term on the Nominating Committee beginning October 2027

SELECTION PROCESS

Complete the application and submit along with any additional optional documentation prior to September 30, 2022. Nominations from the floor will be accepted provided they meet the eligibility criteria, present in front of the CLC, and answer the same questions as other nominees.

Completed applications will be sent to the CLC to review; all nominees will be presented during the business meeting at the Chapter Leadership Council meeting on Wednesday, October 10, in Dallas, TX, at the 2022 CREate 360 Fall Conference.

The two (2) finalists to be presented to Nominating Committee will be determined during a regular quorum meeting of the CLC by a majority vote of all sitting members of the CLC in attendance at the meeting. For this purpose alone, each sitting Chapter President will have one (1) vote and each sitting Chapter Vice President will have one (1) vote.

Nominees will be given three (3) minutes to present their candidacy to the CLC. The floor will then be open to questions for the nominee. After each nominee has presented and had the opportunity to speak, the CLC will vote on the two (2) candidates for recommendation to the Nominating Committee.

The Nominating Committee will interview the two (2) recommendations at the 2023 CREate 360 Spring Conference and select a final candidate for election by the membership.
