About:

Regional Directors play a key role as the main volunteer liaison between chapter leaders and SIOR Global leadership. SIOR Global is currently seeking nominees from the following regions to assume office in October at CREate 360. 

  • SIOR Canada Region - Canada Central, Canada East, and Canada West Chapters
  • SIOR Great Lakes Region - Chicago, Indiana/Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, and Wisconsin Chapters
  • SIOR Northeast Region - Connecticut/Western Massachusetts, New England, New Jersey, New York City & Downstate, and Upstate New York Chapters
  • SIOR South Region - Arkansas, Louisiana Mississippi Alabama and Northwest Florida. and Florida Chapters
  • SIOR West Region - Arizona, Greater Los Angeles, Inland Empire & Orange County, Northern California, San Diego, and Southern Nevada Chapters


ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES

Chapter Guidance & Resource

  • Possess knowledge of SIOR’s policies, strategic plan, membership requirements, and admissions process
  • Understand each chapters’ strengths and challenges
  • Foster communication between SIOR leadership, staff, chapter leaders, and among chapters within the region
    • Communicate regularly with chapter leadership through MySIOR, conference calls, chapter events, and one-on-one discussions
    • Report chapter issues and major activities to SIOR staff
  • Provide guidance on chapter operations and programs
  • Facilitate chapters sharing best practices and success stories
  • Enable chapter alignment with SIOR’s Strategic Plan through dialogue with the chapter leadership
    • Review chapter goals and business plans
    • Monitor chapters’ completion of standards requirements
  • Annually attend at least one meeting of each chapter in the region outside his/her home chapter (SIOR provides a budget to cover transportation costs.)
    • Make every attempt to attend as many events as possible within the region, especially to chapters with known challenges
    • Notify SIOR of intent to attend in advance; relay to SIOR any outcomes/observations from event.
  • Manage discussion and planning of regional conferences/meetings between two or more chapters within his/her region, as applicable
  • Promote communication between chapter leaders and respective membership and share ideas

Chapter Leadership Council

  • Serve as a non-voting member of the Chapter Leadership Council
  • Support CLC Speaker and Speaker-Elect in communicating expectations and facilitating discussions
  • Participate in all CLC meetings and conference calls and Regional Directors meetings
  • Participate annually in TransACT 360 in the spring, CREate 360 in the fall, and in any Leadership Conferences

 Leadership Development

  • Identify emerging leaders for SIOR Global
    • Engage volunteer interest in participation on committees and in leadership for SIOR or chapters
    • Encourage candidacy for elective offices in SIOR or chapters
  • Recruit interested, prospective successor candidates from his/her region for Regional Director
  • Provide orientation to his/her successor as Regional Director
  • Serve on the Nominating Committee for a two-year term after completing two-year term as Regional Director

 Member Recruitment

  • Serve as an SIOR brand ambassador and recruit new members by attending chapter events, sharing ideas with chapters, and developing relationships with potential members
  • Serve as the SIOR Admissions liaison for applicants in areas within his/her region without chapter jurisdiction
  • Communicate with individual applicants to keep them informed of admissions status and process
  • Conduct Admissions interview and confirm applicant’s Gross Fee Income (GFI)
