Bio

Experienced in both industrial and office real estate brokerage, David Boyd joined Boyd Commercial in 1991, focusing on corporate services as well as landlord and tenant representation. David is also a specialist in site acquisitions, build to suit, and design build facilities, both speculative and owner occupied development. David has built his career with long-term relationships gained through thorough market knowledge and service to the client.

One of the first major projects David undertook back in 1996 was representing an investor in the acquisition of a vacant, deteriorating and functionally obsolete 315,000 square foot warehouse. The investor redeveloped the building and David was able to lease the project up to 100% occupancy and subsequently sell the property for the investor. Over the years David has repeatedly added value for investors through acquisition, lease-up and resale of multi-tenant properties totaling over 2.5 million square feet. In 2006, he sold the 80,000 square foot Techniplex Business Center in west Houston for the third time over the last 10 years, adding significant value for each of three owners along the way. He also represented InSite Realty in partnership with Cargill’s Real Estate Investment Group in the off market acquisition of the 660,000 square foot Brascan Properties industrial portfolio in Houston.

David’s tenant representation and corporate services clients include Maersk Oil, ARAMARK, Comcast, Federal Express, Mattress Firm, Baker Distributing, and Midwest Medical Supply, as well as numerous regional and local tenants. David’s landlord representation assignments have included clients such as Industrial Developments International (IDI), the fourth largest commercial real estate developer in the Country, in the leasing of their first speculative development in Houston. The 84 acre Greenspoint Business Center will contain one million square feet of industrial space when completed. Other developer clients include DCT Industrial, McShane Corporation, Clay Development and Construction and the Clifford Companies.

In 1999 David earned the prestigious Specialist in Industrial and Office Real Estate (SIOR) designation and has been actively involved in the Society of Industrial and Office Realtors since that time. He served as the Gulf Coast Chapter Treasurer, Vice President, and then was President in 2002. David also holds the CCIM designation as an investment specialist from the Commercial Investment Real Estate Institute and is a member of the National Association of Realtors, the Texas Association of Realtors and the Houston Association of Realtors.

David earned a B.A. from the University of Texas at Austin in 1991. He, along with his wife Kathy and children, Michael and Kaylee, live in west Houston.
